Ingredients

Scale
  • 1” piece of ginger, grated
  • 1 clove garlic, minced or grated
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, coarsely chopped
  • 1/4 cup scallions, coarsely chopped, 3 scallions
  • 1 Tablespoon gluten free tamari
  • 1 teaspoon fish sauce
  • 2 teaspoons toasted sesame oil
  • 1 pound ground turkey, keep cold until ready to mix
  • avocado oil or other neutral flavor oil for brushing

Asian Dipping Sauce:

Instructions

  • Heat your oven to 400° and line a sheet pan with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the ginger, garlic, cilantro, scallions, tamari, fish sauce and sesame oil. Stir to combine evenly.
  • Add ground turkey. Mix gently using clean hands or gloves for best incorporation and texture. Avoid overmixing, which can make meatballs tough.
  • Use a cookie scoop to make 1 1/2 tablespoon meatballs of equal in size and put onto a parchment lined baking sheet. This will ensure they all cook the same.  Brush the tops with avocado oil. If you want perfectly round, uniform meatballs with a less rustic look, roll each portion into a round ball shape with clean well-oiled hand hands.
  • Bake* at 400° uncovered for 8-12 minutes until the meatballs are brown and no longer pink in the middle (165°). If they’re not golden brown, switch to the broil setting for the final 2-3  minutes, monitoring closely to prevent burning.
  • Serve alone, with Asian Dipping Sauce or one of the other sauce variations.

Notes

Can also be cooked in an air-fryer for 8-10 minutes. Flip or shake the basket halfway through for even browning.
