What Is The Law Of Attraction
The Law of Attraction (LOA) is based on the fact that you attract into your life whatever vibration you are sending out into the world.
There have been numerous studies proving it works. Click here to see an infographic of 3 studies. Dawson Church’s book Mind to Matter shows that the Law of Attraction isn’t just a metaphysical proposition, it’s a scientific reality.
Just like gravity, the Law of Attraction is always in effect. It’s influencing your life every moment of the day. You are attracting things into your life with every thought and feeling whether you are doing it consciously or unconsciously. It never stops, you are always in a state of attraction.
My favorite teacher of the LOA is Abraham Hicks. There are many teachers explaining how to use the LOA consciously to create your life. I resonate with their message and the way it’s communicated.
The Law of Attraction says we are all emitting a vibration whether we know it or not. That vibration is your point of attraction.
Your thoughts and feelings determine your vibration. Whatever you give your energy and attention to will be attracted into your life. You are attracting things into your reality all day, every day based on what you think and how you feel.
Think of it like this; if you are feeling good, enjoying your life you are sending out a vibration attracting more things into your life that make you feel good. That’s the law.
On the other hand, if you feel angry or afraid, you’ll attract more experiences that create those feelings.
Whatever you are thinking and feeling at any given time is basically your request to the universe for more of the same.
The energy of the universe, through the Law of Attraction, responds to whatever energy you are emitting, giving you more of the same. It does not decide which one is better for you, it gives you back what you put out like a boomerang.
How to Use the Law of Attraction
The good news is you get to choose what you put your attention on, you have free will. You can put your attention on anything you want.
You may be putting your attention on things that make you feel angry, sad or afraid but with a little focus you can shift your attention to things that give you a feeling of joy, appreciation and satisfaction. Both experiences are part of your life. Which one do you want to attract more of?
Once you understand the Law of Attraction and how it works, you realize you can choose to think about the things in your life that make you feel good. You can choose to respond differently to situations that show up.
For example, if you want to have more abundance in your life put your attention on the abundance around you. Focus on the abundance of fresh air, water, sunlight, trees, flowers and feel the energy of abundance. It does not matter what gives you the feeling of abundance, it’s the feeling that you want to experience. As you feel more abundant you’ll be amazed at the wonderful things showing up in your life.
Another example, if you want a better body that is thinner, healthier with more energy, appreciate how amazing your body is right now. It’s breathing, your heart is beating, you’re digesting your last meal. There are thousands of chemical reactions going on all day rebalancing your hormones, keeping you alive without you even asking. Feel what a miracle it is.
You can use the LOA to create a better body by looking for parts of your body you DO like. Maybe it’s your baby toe you really like! Maybe your hair or your eyes. You can appreciate your hands washing the dishes. Put your attention on any parts you genuinely appreciate to get the feeling of how fabulous your body is.
When you appreciate your body, it feels pretty good, right?
The Law of Attraction says as you spend more time in the energy of love and appreciation of your body you’ll attract more of what you need to make your body look and feel even more wonderful.
You’ll be inspired to eat the foods that make your body feel good. You’ll be inspired to do fun movement or exercise. You’ll naturally sleep better. The law of attraction is providing the inspiration to create a better body.
Unfortunately, if you’ve been criticizing your body, feeling unattractive or disappointed in the way you look for a while, that energy has momentum. It requires a bit of practice to shift the momentum.
Here are a few tools to help shift your energy.
Law of Attraction Tools and Processes
Whatever your body is like now, even if it’s not as healthy, thin, agile or energized as you would like, know that can change. By using these tools, you can experience more energy, better sleep, a stronger more robust healthy body.
According to Abraham Hicks, what you’re experiencing today is the result of thoughts and emotions you were feeling in the past.
Your new thoughts and feelings may take a bit of time to gain momentum and give you results. Be patient with your new point of attraction.
This is why you want to take what you learn here and use it in your life daily. The good news is you’ll have fun along the way.
I use the acronym AREA to remember the 4 major parts for using the LOA to create consciously.
- Ask for what you want.
- Release resistance and doubt. The reason you’re not getting what you want is there is interference. Releasing allows you to let go of the resistance.
- Expect that what you want is on its way to you. Believing it’s coming opens you up to ideas and inspiration that leads to manifestation.
- Appreciate the journey you are on. You don’t have to wait to get what you want to have fun along the way.
There are many ways to use each part but today I’ll give you my best tips for each part, so you can start creating more of what you want in your life using the LOA
Recently I had some very troublesome muscle pains in my legs. I asked myself how to use the law of attraction for health? I used these four tools and an anti-inflammatory eating protocol to heal. I started feeling better within a few days. I’ll use my words as an example. Feel free to change it to whatever works for you.
Ask for what you want. Put out a request to the universe. Asking allows you to get clear on what you want.
“Desire is a fresh feeling of anticipation, anticipating wonderful expansion. The feeling of desire is truly the feeling of being alive.” Abraham Hicks
The most important part of asking is to get into the FEELING PLACE of how you’ll feel when you have what you’re asking for.
Create A Manifestation Card Tool*
Part 1: Create a statement to get into the feeling place of having what you desire.
Write it down. Put one or more statements on an index card..
Here are a few statements to use. I’m going to finish each statement with what I put in for my better health as an example.
I am delighted now that I feel strong, agile, healthy and full of energy.
Wouldn’t it be nice if I felt strong, comfortable and healthy?
How great it’s going to be when I feel ease, fluidity and strength in my legs.
I’m going to just love it when my body feels free, comfortable, pleasurable.
Use the statements that give you the best feeling. Bask in the feeling.
I add the feeling words I want to experience around my manifestation to my card. Words like play, fun, ease, connection, power, joy, gratitude, appreciation, delight, freedom, fulfillment.
Part 2: Visualize
Find a photo that gives you the feeling you want. Glue or staple it to the other side of your card with the statement. I used a woman doing an advanced yoga pose from a magazine for my card.
Get into the state of joy I feel with this energized, comfortable, strong body
What am I doing with my strong body? I visualize myself walking on the beach, taking a yoga class, running around with my grandson, feeling good having fun.
Part 3: Practice Using Your Manifestation Cards
Once or twice a day, find a time when you can imagine yourself receiving, living the way you want. I practice in the morning while I’m drinking my tea and before bed.
Read your card
Picture yourself and visualize what you’ll be doing and who you’ll be doing it with. What will you be wearing?
Feel the emotions you’ll be feeling. Visualize something to evoke those feelings in you now.
- The reason to practice is to gradually shift your energy. You want to believe it CAN and WILL happen.
- The stronger your positive emotion when you imagine your manifestation happening, the faster it will come to you.
I make a card for each thing I’m trying to create and read/visualize it once or twice a day, to get into the feeling of having what I desire.
*This tool is adapted from my friend Natalie Hill.
Whenever we don’t have what we want it is because we have resistance or interference. These can be beliefs that are contrary to our desire, feelings of unworthiness or other things.
It is natural to feel resistance. What are we to do with it? The first thing is let go of the belief that resistance is not supposed to be there. The contrast or challenges are there to help us get a better understanding of who we are. The resistance helps us identify what we don’t want and then we gain clarity on what we do want. It’s there to help us open up to more love and joy.
Pivoting is a process from Abraham Hick’s book Ask and It Is Given
This is one of my favorite processes to shift from a vibration that is attracting what I don’t want to a vibration that attracts what I do want.
Part 1: Notice your self talk.
Be mindful of what you are telling yourself and how it’s making you feel. Are you criticizing yourself or someone else? Do you expect things to be hard? Do you feel discouraged or disappointed? All these thoughts have a vibration. Each vibration attracts more of the same to it.
The good news is once you notice your feeling you’re on your way to releasing.
Part 2: Love and accept yourself however you are feeling.
Whatever your feelings are, don’t beat yourself up. Observe yourself without judging. This immediately soothes you and raises your vibration.
Part 3: Notice and Pivot.
(I use one of my feelings, frustration, as a example)
What am I feeling, what is the emotion? Frustration
Where do I feel it in my body? My jaw
What is the thought or belief causing this emotion? It’s so hard to get better
Then ask yourself…
What would the opposite emotion be? Satisfaction
Where do I feel this opposite emotion in my body? My heart
What is the thought or belief causing this emotion? There are many things in my day that are satisfying. I can put my attention on them. I trust things are always working out for me.
The Pivoting Process quickly reduces and releases an upsetting emotion. It only takes a minute or two to do. Have fun with it.
I like to ask myself throughout the day “Is this a satisfying thought I am embarking on?” If it’s not, then let it go and think about something else.
EXPECT and ENJOY
Abraham says, “Expectation is key, you get what you expect… if you keep your attention on something, you expect it”. Once you have some manifestation of it, your expectation expands. Developing the attitude of expecting good things helps create what you want.
Part 1: As soon as you wake up each day, proclaim something exciting and wonderful is headed your way today. If you forget, do it as soon as possible.
Believe that what you want is on its way to you.
Think of your desire like planting a seed of corn. You water it and take care of it expecting it to grow into corn you can eat. You wouldn’t go pull it up after one week saying where’s my corn?
Give your desires a chance to manifest. Don’t limit them with your doubt. Nurture them with your expectation.
Part 2: Enjoy your wonderful life right now. Have fun.
Enjoying ourselves positively influences ALL of our attractions and brings us more people, situations, events and thoughts that bring joy.
What are more fun things you can incorporate into your life right now?
I like to think of my journey like this…
I’m having fun on my way to (fill in the blank).
APPRECIATE and ALLOW
“Appreciation and self-love are the most important tools that you could ever nurture. Appreciation of others, and the appreciation of yourself is the closest vibrational match to your Source Energy of anything that we’ve ever witnessed anywhere in the Universe.”
Part 1: Be on the lookout for blessings. Look for things that make you feel good all day long and spend a few seconds experiencing them in every cell of your body.
Notice anything that shows up supporting your desires. Even something small like a good parking spot shows you the universe is supporting you. Remember, being on a vibration of joy and appreciation allows you to receive inspiration.
Part 2: Write or text 3 blessings you appreciate from the day before.
Every morning no matter how you feel, no matter what is happening write down 3 blessings from the day before. Make sure it is new every day. If you can get a few friends together to text each morning, it’s really fun.
This process keeps you on the lookout for things to write down. You’re a detective looking for beauty and magnificence. You are focusing on things to appreciate in your life.
Here is one of the texts I sent to my group of friends recently:
A friend I hadn’t talked to in a while called and we had a heartwarming talk. It was a wonderful connection.
I got a fabulous comment on my blog for one of my recipes. It made me feel appreciated.
Had a delightful walk after dinner with my partner. A lovely way to end the day.
Part 3: Allow things to flow.
Let go of trying to control everything. There is nothing wrong with visions, dreams and desires as long as you’re willing to surrender them. Redirect your focus off of what you’re going to “get” and onto how you want to feel. Trust the universe hears your request and is working around your resistance.
In his book The Seat of The Soul, Gary Zukav writes “Take your hands off the steering wheel. Be able to say to the Universe, ‘Thy will be done,’ … Try looking at life as a beautifully well organized dynamic. Trust the Universe. Trusting means that the circumstance that you are in is working toward your best and most appropriate end.”
In conclusion: The Law of Attraction is powerful. You can use it to create better health, more joy, great love, incredible abundance. It can change your life in every way. Have fun with these tools and be easy about it.
Note: If you’ve been having health challenges for a while, there is a lot of momentum there. You may not be able to focus on your health and feel good. That’s okay don’t force it. Instead put your attention on anything that brings you satisfaction. Do more things that bring you joy. Spending more time in the vibration of satisfaction and joy will naturally bring healing to your body.
