Book Review: Be Your Own Healer

BE YOUR OWN HEALER is a book which guides us to relax, shift our frequency and ignite the energy within allowing healing to occur naturally. It’s written by mind-body expert Dr Kim D’Eramo. I love this book. Here are some of the highlights and how I am using it to improve my health and happiness.
I know from experience good health is not just about food. If you have been with me on this journey for awhile, you know I am equally interested in the mind-body connection. What we think and feel affects our body as much as the food we eat. This is good to know.
We can’t take in nutrients that support our body, repairing and detoxifying when we are in the fight/flight state. We want to be in the relaxation state. The parasympathetic nervous system is activated when we are in a high vibrational state of self acceptance and self love.
When we are in higher emotional states such as love, joy or peace, health and healing occur naturally. This higher frequency impacts our cells in a positive way.
How Do We Spend More Time In the Higher States of Consciousness?
This has been my question for many years. I’d have a feeling of lightness and certainty for awhile until my body didn’t feel good or something happened to cause anxiety or overwhelm.
In this book Dr Kim D’Er’amo guides us to ignite the energy within to allow us to shift into a higher frequency.
This book points us to a deeper connection with the DIVINITY that already lives within each of us. This power within heals our body and activates new possibilities in our life.
We can let the solutions come through us, they don’t have to come from us. Here are some of the key concepts of the book.
Don’t Struggle To Shift Your Frequency
One of the key concepts of this book is DON’T STRUGGLE TO SHIFT YOUR FREQUENCY.
You may feel it is difficult to shift your frequency. I know it has been a struggle for me. Instead Dr D’Eramo says:
“Soften your body and let your breath come in slightly more fluidly. That surrender from fighting, trying to make it happen is the shift. That surrender in a moment of intense fear or pain takes great courage. It’s NOT nothing. It’s everything. That surrender from fighting, trying to make it happen is the shift. When you let go you allow something within you to do the work for you.”
When something comes up for me physically or emotionally I say to myself “
“It’s okay to feel this. It’s okay to let this in. I accept myself and this moment completely as I open, breathing into my heart, softening my body. I can welcome this experience and allow the energy to flow”
Allowing whatever is showing up to be here, relaxing into it, feels so much better than fighting with it. You move into a place of love and acceptance of the present moment. Your body shifts into the parasympathetic nervous system where healing can occur.
Stop Making Yourself Wrong
Another key concept of the book is the idea that if you’re in pain or feeling anxious or depressed nothing is going wrong. You might say how can that be?
Dr Kim say to consider the idea that everything showing up is there for you, not against. This requires trust and a belief that Einstein calls “the Universe is on my side.”
This is a game changer. You lower your barriers and open up to transformation. This does not mean you don’t go to a doctor or take medication. Instead you open up to the guidance that allows you to make decisions from your Higher Consciousness, not from a place of resistance and fear. You may decide to take medication or not, either way is good.
When I lower my barriers and stop resisting by thinking something is wrong or I am doing something wrong everything changes. I feel lighter. I am open to receive more information.
Dr Kim says:
“Discord is there to assist you in getting more present so you an shift to a higher frequency. It shows your body is on your side. Your body is reflecting your inner state to give you information and feedback. Stay curious to tune in to allow the energy to move.”
What Else Is Possible Here
The next step in this process Dr Kim says is to ask your body a question from a place of curiosity like:
- What do I need to know from you?
- What would it take to resolve this?
- I wonder where am I being guided?
Here don’t look for an answer. Just be in the question and the answer will come.
My Experience
As I practice this, I recognize when I’m in a place of fighting and clamping down against the sensations in my body.
In the past when I’d feel pain or overwhelmed with fatigue or anxious I would think: What am I doing wrong? Why is this happening? Nothing works for me. I have to fix this. I have to fight this.
Now I soften my body and let the breath come in more freely. I tell myself: It’s okay to feel what I feel. It’s okay to relax. I’m right here. I Iove and accept myself and this moment completely. As my body softens the pain or fatigue is less, sometimes it even goes away. Even if it comes back I practice again and again and it does really get better. Instead of fearing the sensations I let them in and insights occur. I can relax and let my Divine Self do the healing.
