Finding Joy in a Fractured Shoulder

By July 24, 2011August 11th, 2011Daily Process

A few few days ago I fell down and fractured my shoulder. It has taken me a few days but I realize now I can feel joy even if I am in pain. Gay Hendrix in his book the Big Leap says when situations like this occur shift your attention to the real issue: opening up to more joy.

Gay says “expand your capacity for abundance, love and success.  Consciously let yourself make more rooom in your awareness for abundance, love and success.  Use the resources of your whole being, not just your mind. For, expample feel more love in your chest and heart area.  Savor the body feeling, as well as the mental satisfaction of success and abundance”

I realize my joy has nothing to do with what is going on in my life, it is a state of being. I never knew this. Life is always going to show up with things. Joy is about focusing into my heart and finding joy is always there. This has not been easy. My intention is when I feel pain and anger about fracturing my shoulder, just notice this is where I am focusing. Then take a few deep breaths focus into my heart space and reconnect with a feeling of joy. I may succeed sometimes and fail other times but this is what I a practicing for now. In this moment my shoulder hurts but I feel great knowing this is possible.
