Avocado Chocolate Mousse
Recipe Key
This Avocado Chocolate Mousse is an elegant dessert with a creamy, rich, chocolaty taste. No baking required and easy to make with only 5 ingredients. The amazing thing is it’s healthy enough to eat for breakfast, full of SUPEFOODS. Vegan, Dairy Free, Paleo, Gluten Free.
Are you kidding? How can you eat chocolate mousse for breakfast?ย You can and you should, because the key ingredients are the SUPER FOODS avocado and raw cacao. ย There is also little bit of maple syrup and vanilla. ย That’s it, all good stuff.
Healthy Benefits of Avocado Chocolate Mousse
Avocado and cacao are considered SUPERFOODS because they are packed with nutrients.
The silky, creamy texture of the mousse comes from the avocado. This fruit isย full of monosaturated fatty acids and has anย abundant amount of oleic acid, theย main component of olive oil. ย The oils in avocado have been shown to protect against inflammation, diabetes, and heart disease.
Avocado is high in fiber which regulates appetite, feeds the friendly bacteria in the gut andย helps remove bile and toxins. ย They help you lose weight.
Many people enjoy fruit at breakfast, why not avocado? ย It has the highest protein and lowest sugar content of any fruit. Avocados help build muscle and burn fat.
Raw cacao is a powerful SUPERFOOD.
- 40 times the antioxidants of blueberries
- highest plant-based source of iron
- full of magnesium for a healthy heart
Studies have shown that cacaoย affects your emotions and mood by raising serotonin levels, which explains why we crave chocolate when we feel a bit sad. ย It contains a milk stimulant called theobromine which is a neurotransmitter sometimes used as a treatment for depression. It also releases the compound anandamide, which produces uniquely euphoric feelings of relaxation and contentment.
I recently changed the amount of cacao powder from 1/2 cup to 6 tablespoons as I felt it was too strong.ย You can adjust it to your taste.
How To Make
The recipe comes together in just a few minutes. ย Since raw cacao is bitter you need some type of sweetener. I like maple syrup but honey is good or if you want a non-glycemic sweetener use stevia.
Add the avocado, raw cacao, maple syrup and vanilla to a food processor. ย Addย a little water or coconut milk to thin it out a bit. ย Process and serve.
Serving
I like to serve it with coconut whipped cream and a few raspberries.
It makes the perfect elegant dessert. If you eat it for breakfast you will be full and happy all morning long.
